Jake Turned Three!!!

Wherever does the time go?!? It seems like just yesterday that Jake was born, yet on March 22nd, he celebrated his third birthday! Jake has become quite the little character, to say the least! His vocabularly just blows our mind...he went from barely saying much of anything to speaking in more "complex" sentences. You never know what will come out of Jake's mouth--he has a way of blurting out the most inappropriate things at the worst possible times! We really are very proud of Jake, because he's adapting much better than we anticipated to the birth of his sister. Granted, he still has his temper tantrums fairly regularly, but when it actually comes to interacting with Maddie, he's very gentle and protective. It seems as if he's really enjoying the role of "big brother" and just loves to hold Maddie, give her bottles, help with her pacifier, etc! On the rare occasion that I have to step out of the room for a moment, it's not the least bit uncommon to find Jake comforting Maddie as she cries--I'll often hear him saying "it's okay, Maddie...Jakie here". Very sweet! It's moments like those that certainly put things in perspective! Jake's doing better and better with his "big boy bed". He still wants Marcus to lay with him until he falls asleep, but will generally sleep through the night. Potty training is a different story, though! We constantly try to encourage him to use his little potty, but he tends to be extremely stubborn! Other than that, Jake is just going through the typical three year old things!
